Elderly will experience physical changes which bones become brittle, thin, brittle and easily rnbroken as a result of reduced bone mass and age. The number of elderly sub-district health rncenters Jatiwates Tembelang Jombang were 240 elderly. The results of a preliminary study of 5 rnApril 2013 on the 12 known as (4 elderly) 33.3% know about osteoporosis or bone loss, and totalrn(8 elderly) 66.7% did not know about osteoporosis or bone loss. This study aims to determine the rneffect of counseling on knowledge elderly about osteoporosis in village Jatiwates of District rnTembelang Jombang.rnThe study was conducted in the village Jatiwates of the District Tembelang Jombang. The design rnof this study is one grup research design using pre-post test design. The population in this study rnall of the elderly in the village of Jombang Tembelang Jatiwates the District of 240 people. rnSample of 36 respondents, sampling using simple random sampling. Collecting data using a rnquestionnaire, and analyzed using Willcoxon.rnThe results obtained knowledge of osteoporosis before the extension as much as 72.2% less, rn22.2% adequate, and 5.6% better. Knowledge of osteoporosis after counseling. Knowledge of rnosteoporosis after counseling knowledgeable enough as much as 52.8%, 27.8% lack of rnknowledge, good knowledge of 19.4%.
