Elderly age is identical with decreased function of the body, so that the elderly have a risk of rnexperiencing health problems, one of which is hypertension. Treatment of hypertension in rnfarmakalogi is to take medicine regularly. The fact that there is, still found a family that give little rnattention to its role in the implementation of the drug (5B) in the elderly with hypertension. This rnstudy aimed to the family's role in the implementation of drug taking (5B) studies in elderly rnhypertensive elderly health center Sumberagung Peterongan district Jombang.rnThis research using descriptive design, with the whole family with the elderly population (aged 70-80 years) who had hypertension in the village Sumberagung in June-July 2014, as many as 86 rnfamilies. Samples were taken by 70 respondents, using purposive sampling. Variable is the role of rnfamily in the implementation of drug taking (5B) in elderly hypertension. The research instrument rnused observation sheet which contains general data sheet questionnaire respondents and the rnfamily's role in the implementation of drug taking (5B) in elderly hypertension. Data collection rninstruments using a closed questionnaire where the answers have been provided which consists of rn22 questions. Processing and analysis of data using the editing, coding, scoring, and tabulating.rnThe results obtained in the implementation of family role taking medication (5B) of hypertension rnin the elderly is a positive number of 38 respondents, 33 respondents negative.rnThe conclusion of this study largely family role in the implementation of drug taking (5B) in rnelderly hypertensive in the Sumberagung Peterongan district Jombang is positive.rnKeywords: Role of Family, Drinking Drugs (5B), Elderly, Hypertension
